Abby just finished the Bear Lake Cowl from the new Interweave Magazine. She used Rowan Cocoon held double. Cocoon is a blend of 80% Merino and 20% Kid Mohair. It’s bulky, but done on big needles, so it’s drapey and very squishy and yummy!
Seems like one of the hardest (or most fun, depending on how you look at it) things in knitting is selecting the perfect yarn/color for a particular project, which is where I find myself on this lovely, sunny Saturday. Trying to decide which Madelinetosh color I want to use for the mystery knit-a-long “Eyes On Me” , designed by Kitman Figueroa, one of my design heroes. Check her out on Ravelry – gorgeous shawls!!
The new Interweave Magazine is here with some fun winter knits. Abby saw this cute cowl and immediately went on the hunt for yarn and needles! There are a couple really fun double knitting projects. Thank goodness we’re offering that double knitting class this month! It’s not too late to sign up.

Now to the fun stuff!! We received a huge shipment of Hikoo’s Simplicity, which is a DK version of Simpliworsted. They are both supersoft merino/acrylic blends, which makes them washable and perfect for kids!!
Simplicity is featured in the new book, “Building in Color”, by Michelle Hunter of Knit Purl Hunter. Similar to her original book, “Building Blocks”, this book teaches various color knitting techniques, then you combine strips to make a blanket. If you are interested in adding some color to your work, this is the book for you!
