I have been working on a wonderful lace pattern this summer. My brother is getting married this month and I felt inspired to knit his sweetie a shawl to remember their wedding by. I found the Emilia Shawl, by Rita Maassen. This shawl was such a fun knit and I had to share the finished product photos. I began this project in the fall, and I was using Madelinetosh, Merino Light, in Amber Trinket. It is such a lovely color, and it added to the fun of knitting it watching the colors of the yarn fall out with in the pattern. As with most lace projects, if I put it down for a week or two, I would come back to it and enjoy the knitting just as much as when I started it. Then when I found out my brother was going to get married, I began thinking of the shawl as a gift for his fiancé. But it was the wrong color for a summer, beach themed wedding gift, and I wondered if I could make a second shawl in a better color for her.
Well this spring I finally made the decission to start again with Manos Del Uruguay, Lace in the Gelsey color way. I also decided to place white beads through out so she could use it for special occasions. I love projects that use the intuitive aspects of knitting to put things together, and that also give the knitter problems to solve, and keeps us entertained, and this pattern does all of that, and there is no finishing which is one thing I love about shawls. but this shawl is so delicate and feminine its lovely to wear on a special occasion!
